Our Vineyards
THE MOUNTAIN IS THE WINEMAKER

Our vines grow on the volcanic slopes around Aghavnadzor, in the heart of Vayots Dzor. Days up here are hot and nights turn cold, so the grapes ripen slowly and keep their freshness. Wind off the peaks keeps the leaves dry and clean. Stony ground challenges the roots. Most of the work in a bottle of Saromm is done by the mountain.

ARENI, A GRAPE THAT NEVER LEFT HOME

Areni Noir has grown in this valley for longer than anyone can count, and it is the main grape we plant. It ripens late but at altitude it rewards that patience with bright red fruit, fine tannin and a mineral line through the finish. We have no wish to make it taste like somewhere else. Our only job is to let it taste of here.

TWO VINEYARDS, TWO KINDS OF BEAUTY

One looks up to the mountain, the other back through time. Together, they are Saromm

The Upper Saromm Vineyard

Young, high and open to the sky. The rows climb across volcanic stone where the light is sharp, the nights are cold and the wind comes straight off the peaks. Every season leaves its mark here. These vines are still learning the mountain, and we expect their wine to taste of altitude.

Nerkin Dzor Bush Vineyard

Rooted, calm and full of memory. Its vines have stood in the same village soil since at least the 1860s, tended by one Aghavnadzor family after another. They grow slowly now, but what they give has a depth only age can bring. These vines have nothing left to prove. We are here to listen, protect biodiversity, and make sure the vineyard is organically preserved.

THE FUTURE OF ARMENIAN WINE HAS NOT YET BEEN WRITTEN. BUT WE ARE HOLDING THE PEN.
